Official 2008 Highlight DVD
The 2008 Penn State Nittany Lions returned to the top of collegiate football with a Top 10 finish, a second Big Ten Conference championship in four seasons and a trip to Pasadena for a date in the 2009 Rose Bowl.
Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno, garnering Big Ten Coach of the Year honors, remains the all-time winningest Division I coach.
Behind the emergence of QB Daryll Clark and the leadership of a corps of talented and driven seniors, this Nittany Lion squad had a lot they wanted to prove – and did. Offensive weaponry was evident from the start with Clark steering the “Spread HD” offense behind a stout offensive line, anchored by Center and Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, A.Q. Shipley. Firepower and scoring came from all directions, as Derrick Williams, Deon Butler and Jordan Norwood kept secondaries running and guessing, while the tandem of Evan Royster and Stephfon Green chewed up yardage in big chunks.
The storied defenses that have defined Penn State football over the years also did not disappoint. Even with captain Sean Lee having to lead from the sideline, big hits and bigger stops were the common theme each Saturday this season. Opposing offenses had fair warning about the likes of Anthony Scirrotto, Josh Gaines and Tyrell Sales, but they had no fair warning for what Navorro Bowman, Jared Odrick and Aaron Maybin had in store.
From the creators of “The Penn State Football Story,” this collection of the plays and players that made 2008 great should be a part of every Penn State fan’s library. Let’s Go State!
